1008 Soniat is a one-and -one-half story center hall American cottage in the Uptown neighborhood of New Orleans. The building was built in the early development of the Uptown neighborhood and once occupied half of the square. Through research and analyzing of Sanborn fire insurance maps it was able to be determined that the property consisted of a main house, a service wing, and multiple out-buildings. Under the direction of Rick Fifield Architect a comprehensive renovation and addition of the main house was undertaken.  The renovation consisted of removing un-original additions, preserving the main house’s significant architectural elements, and adding new additions. The new additions included a new rear wing, cast-iron side gallery, and the addition of two new accessory buildings to serve as a cabana and garage.
