Life along Bayou LaFourche concentrates in a very thin sliver of land perched just above sea level along the bayou. This tenuous balance gives life along the bayou its meaning in terms of access to the wetlands and gulf, and conversely provides the greatest threat to its existence from storms and sea level rise. Through analysis of our particular site in Galliano, one is able to interpret the changes of function and usage of the land by the current and previous decades. My proposal is to take this interpretation of the land usage and function and develop a new scheme for the arpent system. This proposal will create fluid circulation with elements of breaks, which will create delay and will remain as a cohesive whole. This will create a smooth transition from low density residential to high density commercial space.
